Outdoor nightlife sound reinforcement represents one of the most complex engineering challenges an audiovisual integrator can face. When a venue combines a high-intensity dance floor with lounge areas or VIP zones, the traditional approach of simply increasing the overall volume fails completely. Absolute control of enclosure physics is required, segmenting acoustic energy to guarantee power where it is needed and comfort where tranquility is sought.
This challenge has been successfully resolved at the exclusiveBagheera Terrace, located in Toledo. The project was executed by the prestigious installation firm SSB Audiovisuales, with supply and technical support from our distributor NID (Neec Iberia Distribución) and entirely utilizing Lynx Pro Audio technology to structure a robust, versatile sound ecosystem capable of withstanding the rigors of outdoor environments.
Multi-Zone Management and Outdoor Energy Control
When designing sound systems for large terraces, wind, the absence of reflective walls, and noise regulations make it necessary to plan every single decibel. The primary objective in Toledo was to confine high sound pressure levels (SPL) to the core of the dance floor while preventing energy from spilling over into peripheral areas.
Power and Directivity with HR Marine Grade
The dynamic response demanded by club music on the central dance floor required a wavefront with exceptional projection capacity. To achieve this, controlled-throw systems from our high-performance range were implemented:
-
Main systems (HR-1296/7 Marine Grade): These full-range enclosures strictly project the mid-high frequency spectrum onto the audience, avoiding uncontrolled dispersion toward the sky or walls. Their specific construction with Marine grade finish protects the neodymium transducers and the cabinet against humidity and the thermal rigors of the climate in Toledo.
-
Sub-bass reinforcement (HR-18/10 Marine Grade): Low-frequency reproduction was entrusted to 18-inch subwoofers. This configuration maximizes the physical impact necessary for nightlife music while maintaining exceptionally low harmonic distortion even under extreme demands.
Millimetric Precision in the DJ Booth
Professional mixing at high sound pressure levels requires the artist to work in an environment completely isolated from acoustic reflections and delays from the main system.
To achieve this, the Terraza Bagheera booth integrates the RX-12 powered monitor. Equipped with a 12-inch woofer and a high-frequency driver managed by an internal Class D amplifier, this monitor offers an immediate transient response. This provides the DJ with a direct, clean, and fully synchronized sound reference, facilitating absolute rhythm control throughout the set.
The Juno Series and Distributed Audio
One of the most common mistakes in summer terraces is forcing the central system to cover the entire venue, generating a deafening volume in the front rows. The solution dictated by acoustic engineering was to reduce the critical distance through a distributed network:
-
Full-range loudspeakers (JN-8T): Twelve surface-mount passive units from our Juno series were deployed, featuring IP-46 certification. Thanks to an 8-inch woofer and a wide dispersion angle, music envelops the VIP areas uniformly and with total intelligibility, allowing conversation without effort.
-
Low-frequency extension (BS-112): To ensure a completely fluid tonal transition from the dance floor, two compact subwoofers (with an internal 12-inch speaker) were integrated into the distributed network, adding body to the spectrum without causing low-end buildup.
DSP Processing and Class H Amplification
Coherent acoustic summation in a multi-zone architecture depends entirely on rigorous time alignment and stable, clean current delivery:
-
Digital management (LUKA-248): An advanced 2-input, 8-output processor governs the installation’s topology. It is responsible for applying crossover filters, protections, and, critically, the millimetric delays that ensure the perimeter sound arrives perfectly synchronized with the central core.
-
Power amplification (MH Series): Amplification was entrusted to the MH-45200, MH-23200, and MH-21500 models. Based on a high-efficiency Class H topology, these amplifiers deliver outstanding dynamic headroom and thermal stability prepared to withstand the long operating hours of nightlife.
The Excellence of Professional Outdoor Audio
The project developed at Terraza Bagheera demonstrates that the success of outdoor sound reinforcement does not depend on brute force, but on the intelligent distribution of acoustic energy. Thanks to the technical rigor of SSB Audiovisuales, the coordination of our distributor NID (Neec Iberia Distribución), and the performance of our equipment at Lynx Pro Audio, this venue in Toledo establishes itself as an absolute benchmark in professional sound engineering.
